Subchain is not a blockchain

The name invites the question, so let’s answer it precisely: no token, no consensus network, no value custody — and why that’s a feature, not a hedge.

We named the company for the thing it protects — the chain of agreements running underneath agent commerce — and the sub-agreements ("subchains") that make up a negotiation. We did not name it for distributed-ledger technology, and we do not use any.

The confusion is worth clearing up rigorously, because the buyers we serve — counsel, procurement, finance — have all sat through blockchain pitches, and their scar tissue is our first objection to handle.

The record is an audit log with discipline, not a chain with a market.

The three no’s

No token: there is nothing to buy, stake, or speculate on. Pricing is a flat licence.

No consensus network: the record is an append-only log operated by Subchain and verifiable by both parties, not a distributed ledger maintained by anonymous validators. Disputes are resolved by people in a jurisdiction — DIFC — not by forks.

No value custody: settlement stays on your existing rails. Subchain governs the agreement layer; money never touches us.

Why not use a chain?

Because the problem is accountability, not trustlessness. Our users want a named person to be answerable — the exact opposite of the anonymity a public chain optimises for. An ordered, attributed, exportable log serves an auditor better than a block explorer ever has.

Name the boundary before your reader mis-files you. This post is us taking our own advice.

The connector math: one integration versus N

Bespoke counterparty integrations scale quadratically in the market and linearly on your backlog. Both curves are bad. Here’s the arithmetic.
